Selma Blair Pose for 'British Vogue' Cover

The 50-year-old actor and playwright, who has multiple sclerosis, appears on British Vogue's May 2023 cover and talks about using her cane in public.

"I have an emotional and physical attachment to the cane," she told the newspaper, which featured 19 creatives, including Blair, from fashion, athletics, the arts

After holding onto her cane, the Legally Blonde actress' voice and body relax into their own. "It's an extension of me," she said.

Blair made her red carpet debut with a handcrafted leather cane at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in 2018, months after exposing her ailment.

Blair poses for Adama Jalloh in a beige caped gown and pointed-toe shoes and a tight black dress from The Row with Manolo Blahnik stiletto heels. Her cane is in both.

Blair has completed many projects since her diagnosis nearly five years ago, including releasing her documentary Introducing, Selma Blair and her memoir Mean Baby in 2021 & 2022

Last summer, Blair spoke to PEOPLE about her GAP ad and how MS and alopecia affect her everyday life.

"As I wake up more and people come into my day, I'll put on another piece of jewelry or grab my cane instead of my [service] dog, and it just evolves as my day goes on."

"I'm interesting at night," she said. I'm turbaned. Two canes. It's a lot. I've accepted my quirks."
