Brittney Griner called preventing transgender athletes from competing against women in sports a "crime" on Thursday.
To preview the 2023 WNBA season, Griner was questioned about her confinement in a Russian prison and transgender athlete legislation by an ESPN reporter.
According to Fox News, Griner will fight for and speak out against that. “Everyone should play. Everyone should feel safe here.
And not feel threatened, like they can't be themselves, or like everyone's watching.
“Honestly, separating someone for any reason is a crime. I'll surely speak out against that legislation and those laws seeking to pass."
Transgender athletes spark global debates.
The discussion is bipartisan. Martina Navratilova, a longstanding LGBTQIA campaigner, fiercely opposes biological males in women's sports.
Many states and school districts have banned transgender women from women's sports. The Biden Administration has suggested banning such bans.
Title IX covers it. President Biden has promised to veto federal legislation prohibiting transgender athletes.
